The power of small change

Oslo on 50 kroner a day? Anyone who has lived in or visited the capital of Norway knows that this is not easy. A bus ticket costs 32 kroner; a cup of coffee is 38 kroner; and a movie is 110 kroner (never mind popcorn). When Milda Jonusaite Nordbø took the 30-day cCHALLENGE, she decided to limit her spending to 50 kroner a day, food and all. What about shopping? Eating out? Being social?

As Milda eloquently describes in a Pecha Kucha talk (in Norwegian), the cCHALLENGE forced her to confront the little voice in her head that kept telling her that she needed this and that. It also made her think about what she really needs and values. By the end of the cCHALLENGE, Milda was looking at money and consumption in a new way. When we experiment with one deliberate change for a mere 30 days, we gain insights on the personal, social and systemic aspects of change. And we start to recognize that the power for change lies within all of us.
